Surprisingly, MGM’s VIP lounge is only staffed and serves alcoholic drinks on Friday and Saturday. On Friday and Saturday, there are a couple of hot hors d'oeuvres and other light snacks but nothing like the food offerings in the VIP lounges at the Connecticut casinos or Borgata.
There is a counter where food should be served but during the week there is no food other than granola bars and crackers. Although attractively decorated, MGM’s new VIP lounge is small and is furnished with a few tables, chairs, sofas, and TVs.
When I heard that MGM was converting the former Starbucks in the hotel lobby to a VIP lounge for Platinum and Noir members, I assumed it would be similar to the lounges found at the Connecticut casinos and at MGM’s Borgata casino in Atlantic City (Amphora Lounge). Since opening over a year ago, MGM Springfield has lacked the extra perks and amenities for premium card members that both Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods offer. Note: This review is just for MGM Springfield’s new VIP lounge.
